No Words, Just Tears
Free-agent outfielder Trot Nixon has agreed to a one-year, $3 million deal with the Cleveland Indians, ESPN.com's Peter Gammons reports.
There are a thousand reasons not to want Trot back, not the least of which is the unfulfilled potential of Trot as a top farm prospect, right alongside Nomar Garciaparra. In so many ways, he never really panned out. But that doesn't make me feel any better.
Sometimes I'm just a sentimental sap.

I'm with you sistah.
It makes Fenway and I being able to see his last game all that more meaningful.
I have a lump in my throat that just won't go away.
Now Kellyj, whatever made you post that picture and then say that Trot didn't really pan out? What a cruel tribute to one we hold so fondly in our hearts. Trot the original dirt dog and always a Fenway favorite. This is a sad day indeed.
Cruiser, I think that picture exemplifies Trot's dirt dog-ness perfectly. He puts it ALL on the field, doesn't shy away from playing hard in adverse conditions, and doesn't seem concerned about injury to himself. His focus is solely on expending 100% effort. Unfortunately, his promise as a top hitter was never realized. But it wasn't for lack of effort on his part.
Trot IS The Dirt Dog. He is the only one I scream that at....there may be a couple others whose actions are dirt dog but now I'm sad to know I won't be able to yell that again until I see someone step up to the plate and do the same. I will always love him for what he did for us and how he plays. he is one of those players I just enjoy watching...regardless of the team
